HV Logic Ltd. is an Alberta-based High Voltage Electrical Engineering company specializing in power system digital equipment system integration. Services include project consulting and management, electrical design, SCADA programming, network design, cyber security, and automation logic. The company has a proven track record of delivering results for clients in electric utilities, oil and gas, and renewables sectors in Alberta.
To support the growth of the company, HV Logic Ltd. is currently looking for a Student Engineer that meets the Internship Criteria provided below. This individual must be willing to learn or expand on specialized skills that are currently in high demand for the power industry. The successful candidate will be joining a small company with 30 years of industry experience.
Qualifications
- Develop automation logic with various programming languages.
- Program SCADA remote terminal units and automation controllers for communications to remote electronic devices with utility recognized protocols.
- Develop SCADA/HMI Graphics (Annunciators, Single Line Diagrams and Custom Graphics).
- Create, populate, and query historians and SQL databases.
- Build Virtual Machine servers/clusters with various operating systems.
- Research, develop and test new technologies – embedded industrial controllers, cloud applications, augmented reality, IoT, Security, and 5G.
- Prepare digital equipment replacement electrical designs for high voltage substations based on client provided scope documents.
- Prepare bill of materials for design projects.
- Become knowledgeable with various client and industry standards.
Internship Criteria:
- Currently registered in a Bachelor’s Degree in electrical/computer engineering or Diploma in Electronics Technologist entering 3rd Year of the Program.
- Approaches work with an interest and desire to learn. Self-sufficient independent learner capable of executing tasks/projects independently.
- Experiences with computers, operating systems, cloud applications.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking concepts.
- Strong understanding of computer programming languages and concepts.
- Possess strong written and oral communication skills.
- Possess strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Advanced problem-solving skills.
- Aptitude towards fast moving modern technologies and customizing/applying them to real world applications.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Canadian citizen, permanent resident, a refugee under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, or on an open work permit.
- Legally able to work in Canada according to the laws and regulations of the province or territory where you live.
- Not receiving Employment Insurance (EI) benefits currently.
