Position Overview:
Under the general direction of the Project Financial Services Manager, this position oversees financial management and controllership activities for an assigned capital portfolio, providing leadership and coordination across the full project financial life cycle. This role is required to provide expert guidance, analytical support, and recommendations that enhance financial processes, promote accountability, and enable informed business decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Develop a strong understanding of the assigned capital portfolio and provide strategic financial support to leaders responsible for project delivery.
- Lead and oversee capital budgeting, project planning, and the establishment and maintenance of accurate financial and master data for capital projects.
- Conduct ongoing financial analysis, variance monitoring, and performance reporting, ensuring timely, accurate insights through monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting cycles.
- Provide oversight of project and contract expenditures, support contract evaluation (including tax considerations and payment terms), and ensure effective processes for expenditure review and control.
- Lead monthly capital review meetings, coordinate inputs from stakeholders, review capital approval documents for financial integrity, and support regulatory filings and related information requests.
- Provide leadership to assigned staff and drive continuous improvement in financial processes, data integration, and portfolio management practices.
- Provide guidance on work eligible for capitalization in accordance with accounting standards.
- Oversee the accurate set up of project financial and master data, including WBS, network and activity structures, cash flows forecasting, budgeting, interest and escalation calculations, in-service dates and retirements. This includes ensuring proper asset and depreciation categorization of project and contract costs.
Qualifications:
- A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation with four years related experience, combined with progressively responsible work experience and demonstrated skills and abilities for the position.
- Strong financial and analytical expertise, with experience in accounting principles, financial systems, and capital processes.
- Proven leadership abilities, including supervising teams, fostering collaboration, and working effectively with stakeholders across an organization.
- Demonstrated sound judgment, problem solving skills, and the ability to handle confidential or complex matters independently.
- Excellent communication skills and the capacity to deliver high quality work in fast paced environments while managing multiple priorities.
Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $52.88-$72.45 Hourly, $101,332.40-$138,828.30 Annually.
