Under minimal direction from the Senior Banking Officer will be responsible for ensuring the efficient utilization of corporate cash resources by actively managing the daily cash flows and balances across all corporate bank accounts. This will require the gathering of Consolidated Electric and Gas cash flow data from internal and external sources and updating of corporate daily and long-term cash forecasts. You will provide professional expertise related to all aspects of Manitoba Hydro's cash management, accounting, reporting, and control systems. This is a term position for a period of approximately 12 months.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze the consolidated cash forecast on a daily basis using the corporate treasury forecasting system, make decisions and implement actions in support of the optimal utilization and security of cash resources.
- Responsible for the reporting, approval, control and delivery functions associated with forecast and actual cash flows. Prepare, analyze and report daily, monthly, quarterly, and year end SAP entries, GL accounts reconciliations, monthly bank reconciliations ensure correct application of accounting handbook principles.
- Develop and prepare on an ongoing basis the month end cash forecast variance analysis for both gas and electric, interpret variance results, provide variance explanations, identify trends, and incorporate results into cash forecasts and finance expense variance explanations.
- Provide professional advice on financial controls and reporting systems related to corporate banking and cash management activities to ensure they are designed, implemented, and maintained in manner consistent with corporate and divisional standards. Provide staff with professional guidance on the use of cash management and financial systems, in particular where these are used in support of new procedures and processes.
- Provide cash management data/analysis for financial markets section strategy documents and other reporting needs. Financial markets section backup duties and project work as required.
- Participate in a variety of special projects in Treasury. Plan/coordinate activities of designated project(s) to ensure that goals or objectives of the project are accomplished within the prescribed time frame. E.g. - New treasury management systems, SAP implementation.
- Build and maintain excellent business relations with internal staff and external contacts and provide required cash management services in support of their objectives.
- Plan and perform cash management's tasks related to the annual external audit.
- In collaboration with the Senior Banking Officer, develop, implement and monitor a fraud prevention and response plan, and data analytics plan.
- Assist in the preparation of documents related to cash management activities required to file PUB regulatory applications.
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA).
- Thorough understanding of relevant accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
- Exceptional interpersonal communication skills and proven ability to establish and maintain successful working relationships with staff at all levels, both internally and externally.
- Demonstrated ability to recognize, investigate, and analyze problems and devise, present, discuss, and implement recommended solutions.
- A thorough understanding of financial accounting, cash management, and cash forecasting principles and practices.
- Possess a high degree of initiative, with the proven ability to work independently under broad guidelines and minimum supervision.
- Demonstrated team player exhibiting a high degree of integrity, creativity, and good judgement in dealing with accounting and human resource matters, including confidential information.
- SAP, MS Outlook, Word & Excel, Power BI.
- Experience with Treasura, CIBC, BMO, RBC On-line Banking Platforms, WebTrader, would be an asset.
Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $39.27-$54.35 Hourly, $75,242.70-$104,154.96 Annually.
