We are seeking a Senior Project Accounting Analyst to work in the Project Service Department. Under the general direction of the Enterprise Projects & Divisional Financial Services Lead will be responsible for providing financial support to contracts and projects managed by the Project Management Division (PMD).  The primary focus of this role will be on supporting the large and complex contracts executed within the Division.
Responsibilities:
  • Analyze, review and interpret actual costs submitted in Progress Statements for large, complex contracts and prepare and provide recommended amounts to pay to the Project Manager(s).
  • Assist in the development of contract-specific processes for the analysis and review of actual costs submitted in Progress Statements for large, complex contracts.
  • Communicate and discuss directly with vendors on behalf of Project Manager(s) with respect to actual costs submitted in Progress Statements.
  • Provide direct support with respect to complex escalation adjustments for applicable contracts.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of contractual obligations for all contracts related to the projects.
  • Maintain a thorough familiarity with applicable labour agreements and all associated labour rates and provisions within it as they relate to the various contracts.
  • Review and analyze actual cost expenditures to ensure costs are allocated appropriately on the project; prepare and park correcting journal entries as required.
  • Prepare monthly actual cost confirmation reports for Project Managers, monitor their status and respond to related inquiries/requests for additional information or analysis.
  • Provide SAP guidance and training on the use of financial aspects of SAP to the Division.
  • Respond to internal and external customer inquiries with respect to contract progress claims, back-up verification and payments.

Qualifications:
  • Certificate in Accounting plus four years directly related experience;
    OR
  • Two-year diploma majoring in Accounting plus three years directly related experience;
    OR
  • Four-year degree majoring in Accounting plus one year directly related experience.
  • Work experience in project environment and general knowledge of project management systems and principles is required.
  • Work experience in providing contract management support is required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Manitoba Hydro's procurement policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated good knowledge of Microsoft applications especially Excel.
  • Demonstrated understanding of cost accounting principles and practices and of the Corporations procedures, policies and regulations.
  • Ability to plan, organize and control activities of various concurrent work assignments within the area of responsibility.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships and interact effectively with division staff at all levels.
  • Must obtain and maintain a current Personal Risk Assessment and a "Clear" security rating in accordance with Manitoba Hydro policy P513.
  • Demonstrated ability to use the SAP PS, MM and CO modules for investigation and extraction of cost and resource data related to capital projects.

Salary Range  Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $31.94-$44.18 Hourly, $61,202.96-$84,652.88 Annually.
